About Maryse
Currently an English teacher in middle school, I hold a Master's degree in Literature, Languages, Heritage and Civilizations, with a specialization in English, as well as an LLCER degree in English (LAS course, with a minor in psychology).
My academic career has been particularly focused on American literature. I dedicated my dissertation to the study of African American literature, exploring the intergenerational transmission of trauma in the works of Octavia E. Butler and Toni Morrison.
I also enriched my international experience thanks to an Erasmus exchange at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), during which I validated a C1 level in English.

I devote myself to teaching grammar, conjugation, as well as written and oral expression and comprehension, for middle and high school students. My background in a research Master's degree and an LLCER degree in English also allows me to support students in these areas. I also offer preparation courses for language certifications such as the TOEFL and TOEIC.
My sessions draw on a variety of materials: textbook excerpts, audio documents, and literary texts to illustrate grammatical and syntactic rules. I pay particular attention to oral expression, which is essential for building students' confidence and overcoming barriers related to speaking in English.
To optimize learning, I provide each student with a summary document at the end of each session, with key concepts and corrected exercises. Each class generally concludes with an oral exchange of approximately ten minutes to encourage fluency and spontaneity.
