About Curtis
I have a Masters 150h TESOL/TEFL qualification which I obtained this year (2019) and have tutored various students through high school.
This included test and exam preparation, setting homework and session tests (for various subjects) and speech preparation.
Under the TESOL qualification I am qualified to teach English to children as well as adults.

The average rate of optimal learning of the human brain is said to be between 20 - 35min for learning new content. A rough structure for comprehensive 60min lessons is listed toward the end.
A general overview:
My lessons are focused on two things:
1) Learning to communicate and
2) Applying what you have learnt.
(This includes writing, speaking/listening and reading lessons tailored to the student I am teaching/tutoring)
(They cater for people seeking to learn English as a second language but also to those looking to learn English to get by in a new, foreign country.)
My lessons, irrespective of who they are prepared for are comprehensive, forthright and progressive. Most importantly though, they seek to expand your knowledge and confidence around the English language.
Structure:
- The first 10min will be based on assessing homework and revision of covered content, followed by 10 - 15min of "warm-up" activities serving as a lesson introduction.
- The next 30-40min will be focused on effective learning using the communicative language approach. Focusing on the PRESENTATION of new material and then the PRACTICE thereof through application and speech.
- The final 10min will focus on revision of the day's topic as well as homework allocation.
