About Edward
I'm Edward, a 24-year-old web developer based in London. I've been programming for well over 6 years now, and have a lot of experience teaching students to code at a range of levels, from beginner to advanced.
I worked previously at the University of Southampton, teaching first and foundation year students how to code using Java and Python - two excellent languages for starting out. I also taught third-year students, who are much further along in their development.
I'm keen to hear each student out, and learn why they want to learn to program. I have a lot of passion for what I do, and enjoy tailoring my lessons to the individual. Learning to code can be incredibly daunting, so I like to offer an environment where it is safe to ask daft questions and receive serious answers.
Whether it is making websites, games, or apps, I can take students from the very basics to some of the more exciting areas of programming, as well as teaching important related fundamentals such as version control.

Edward worked as one of our Java lab demonstrators and lab/coursework markers for the undergraduate programming course in the school of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) at the University of Southampton. He was an excellent demonstrator; he had a strong grasp of the material and had obviously prepared for each lab beforehand. He was patient and kind with the students and made sure that they reached the answers to problems they had themselves with his explanations, rather than just providing the answers as some demonstrators are want to do. I have never hesitated to recommend Edward when other ECS colleagues have been looking for good quality demonstrators, and I am confident that he will make an excellent tutor.
