About IAN
I am an experienced Sociology teacher with over 30 years of teaching and curriculum expertise across post-16 education. I hold a BSc, MA and PGCE, and have dedicated my career to making Sociology engaging, accessible and academically rigorous for students of all abilities. Alongside classroom teaching, I have delivered student revision and exam skills sessions across the UK, supporting learners in developing confidence, analytical skills and examination success.
My professional interests include criminology, religion, popular culture and the sociology of music. I have written a number of articles for A Level Sociology journals, covering topics ranging from research into the police to contemporary issues surrounding religion and music in society. I have also contributed to educational podcasts discussing teaching strategies, pedagogy and effective approaches to Sociology education. I remain passionate about inspiring critical thinking and helping students connect sociological theory to the realities of everyday life.
