About Graham
I love mathematics, and I want to help pupils to achieve their best at whatever level.
Although I am very patient with my pupils, I also believe that they need to be stretched a little in order to improve. I think that mathematics is not merely a matter of rote learning boring methods, but about understanding, and learning how to think. It is better if pupils have to talk about how they approach tasks, which helps them to attack questions in a more organised way, and also in solving problems.
There is something really exciting about understanding something really well, and being able to solve a problem for oneself, and that excitement can happen at any level from GCSE or A-level to wherever. To achieve that in mathematics you only need a small amount of knowledge, a calm appproach, and a questioning mind.
