About Evelyn
A BA English Literature and History graduate from Cardiff University, offering flexible tutoring across the South Wales area.
With three years experience of private tutoring, I deliver sessions that aim at ensuring students get the grades they are capable of with focused help. My tuition varies from general improvement in exam technique and essay writing, to focus on key areas and last-minute exam preparation. My main aim is simply to ensure that students are engaged with their subject and satisfied in their understanding of key topics and the approach needed to succeed in exams and essays.
My formal teaching experience includes both paid and voluntary work with identified groups of students in both the Secondary and FE education sectors, in which I provided GCSE English Language and Literature exam and re-sit support within schools in south Wales. My specific experience therefore lies within the current Welsh GCSE English curriculum. This volunteering was undertaken as part of the First Campus and Central South Consortia Joint Education Service’s HEFCW funded Reaching Wider project. I have recent experience improving E/D grades to a solid pass (C or above), and also with refining A/A* graded work.
I have recently worked as a classroom assistant in a PRU, and currently work as a Teaching Assistant in secondary schools. I have experience working with students suffering from a wide range of mental health and learning disabilities, who required extra curriculum support. I have received professional Child Protection Training and hold a valid DBS check.
Outside my tutoring I have been involved with numerous registered charities who provide employability skills and classroom learning for young people aged 16-18 in disadvantaged communities around South Wales.
