Methodology

I am really enthusiastic about getting people involved in music. It's great for everyone whether you're young or old, complete novice or professional. The most important thing is to enjoy learning and, in my opinion, this is the best way for you to be able to improve.

I am a flexible teacher, and adapt my lessons to your preferred way of learning, skill level and interests. I like to get my students to be confident in sight-reading as soon as possible, as this is a great way to improve your musicality.

Whether you want to learn just for fun or have a specific goal (ie. graded exams) I will provide appropriate lessons in my engaging teaching style.

Experience

I have been playing flute (amongst other instruments) for 12 years and achieved Grade 8 Flute performance before going on to study Medicine.

I have experienced playing in a range of environments since the beginning of my flute journey - solo performance, small groups, orchestra, pit bands for musicals, wind bands, and more.
This means I can teach a range of styles of music and specialise in gaining confidence for beginners to play amongst others.

She explains how to play the different notes and techniques well and clearly. Kate explains everything in a way which allows you to easily understand and always feel like you are progressing and learning something. She's so much fun to work with too! 10/10 would recommend!
