About Alicia
Over the summer I was a site supervisor on an archaeological excavation with Bangor University. One of the main responsibilities of this role was to teach, mentor and advise students and volunteers of the ages 17 to adult. This excavation was taken as a degree module by some students, thus I taught students excavation techniques, how to identify finds and how to record excavation information correctly. I also marked their work and progress.
Also, I have had experience of working with primary school children, as I have volunteered at two local primary schools as a teaching assistant and at a nursery school. Moreover, I have previously volunteered at the RSPB nature reserve at the children's club. Therefore, I have experience of working with both children and adults, of varying abilities, in academic environments.
I am an incredibly patient person who enjoys spending time with people of all ages. I have excellent communication and organisation skills. I am very passionate about every aspect of history and archaeology, particularly social history. I understand that the best method in which to teach history or archaeology is to use creativity to ensure that students enjoy their learning experience. One of the reasons that I am so passionate about history as I think it is extremely important that people understand how past events have shaped our world into what it is today.

I am a hardworking, resourceful, friendly and patient recent university graduate, who has just completed my Marts degree in Archaeology at Bangor University. Previously, I studied BA History with Archaeology at Undergraduate Degree level from 2013 to 2016 before changing to the Undergraduate Master’s Degree at the end of my third year. My degree was highly research and essay based, so I have an excellent understanding of English grammar and academic writing, as well as History and Archaeology.
Over the summer I worked as a site supervisor on an excavation. In this role, I mentored and taught archaeological information and techniques to students and volunteers of ages 17 to adult, with varying abilities and experience. Therefore, I can confidently work with and tutor pupils and students in the subjects of English, History or Archaeology. I can confidently tutor History or Archaeology from primary school level to degree; and tutor English from primary school to GCSE Level.
Also, I have had experience of working with primary school children, as I have volunteered at two local primary schools as a teaching assistant and at a nursery school. Moreover, I have previously volunteered at the RSPB nature reserve at the children's club.
I understand that every student has their own individual learning style, and I take a flexible approach to teaching. Each lesson will be unique to the student, and my aim is to increase the student's confidence and understanding of the subject.
