About Sophia
I have been playing the piano for 14 years and have been teaching flute/piano/music theory for 6 years. I frequently play in bands and orchestras. I achieved an A in A level music which is considered equivalent to ABRSM Grade 8 Music Theory and have helped run a music theory club to help young pupils, particularly with grade 5. I am DBS checked.

I always have a session where I talk to the student and work out what their goals are and what they want to achieve. After this, I tailor the lessons to those goals and set achievable practice goals depending on the student's schedules. With young students, I aim to make the lessons fun and exciting with a different method to those who are a little older. I am also able to give more information and context on the composers that we are studying as well as the reasons why there are different rules in different situations (if the student is interested) as this is my area of study at university.

Sophie has been teaching my 8 year old daughter piano for nearly a year now. We initially moved to online lessons because of COVID/lockdown but Jess enjoyed the lessons so much that we never stopped. Sophie is a kind, patient, motivating and engaging teacher and Jess has come on leaps and bounds under her guidance. Sophie is also really flexible, as well as exam prep she has helped Jess learn some of her favourite pop songs which has kept the lessons fun and exciting. Thanks Sophie!
