About Tereza
I am a classically trained pianist and very passionate about sharing my knowledge with others.
I started learning piano when I was six years old and finished a music school in the Czech Republic when I was 18. After that I went to University Hradec Kralove, to learn even more about music, improve my technique and learn about relevant teaching methods. I obtained a Bachelor degree (BA Hons) in 2015. I also attended piano classes at Brno Conservatoire shortly after my graduation to learn more and more as continuous learning and working on myself is very important to me.
Since my early teens I have competed in several piano competitions all over the Czech Republic and won numerous awards, prizes and accolades. Thanks to that I'm able to work hard and focus on a finished result.
I have six years experience of privately teaching students of all ages and experience in piano playing. For three years I was working as a teacher at Nursery where I was a lead for music lessons. After coming to UK I worked for a commercial company Soundsteps Music School, delivering group keyboard classes in West London.
I believe music should be fun and making sessions exciting and enjoyable is the best way to learn. My approach is to be a friend, not a strict teacher, and I always try to motivate students to stick to music through leading by example. I'm very patient and always adapt my teaching methods to each student. I never treat two students the same - even when it comes to choosing their repertoire.
Even though I am trained as a classical music pianist I enjoy teaching popular music as well. I can help with a musical theory, history of music, composing and much more.
I also do accompaniments for other instruments.

Unless students wish to play contemporary music or learn piano to accompany themselves while singing, I always follow a given curriculum I've learnt while studying myself.
First I like to focus on little bit of a technique (scales, chords and etudes) - it is also a good practice to start with those exercises to warm up. Then I usually assign two pieces from different periods (for example: Bach and Schumann, Mozart and Debussy etc.), it's very individual and I try to give students pieces to play that go well with their character so it's as natural as possible for them to perform them as they feel is right.
