About Yvonne
I am currently an English teacher with 3 years of experience teaching English for Gr 8 - 10. I have a B.Ed Teaching degree in English and Business studies for Senior and FET Phase learners. I am a qualified netball coach and umpire. Computer literate and very passionate about teaching.

I base my lessons on learners prior knowledge, background and abilities in order to make the content as relevant as possible. I accommodate learners with reading disabilities as well as teaching them the correct writing skills. I believe that learners also need to acquire knowledge through self discovery basee on their prior knowledge and what they have learnt so far. I believe in interactive classes where learners can be actively involved in obtaining knowledge. They must not be robots in the class they must be actively involved, for example group discussions. I want learners to feel happy and comfortable in my class so that they would want to learn and not see learning as a punishment, but see learning new information as an opportunity to become a knowledgeable citizen.
