About Paula

I have worked in all Primary School Years as a class teacher for 15 years. I first started with 11+ tutoring running after school sessions within the school I was employed, working with groups of children. For the past academic year I turned solely to private tutoring in all year groups but I have found 11+ Tutoring is what I enjoy the most. I am familiar with both the Berkshire and Buckinghamshire requirements for the entrance exam for both the state Grammar Schools and Private School Entrance Exams. I can teach Maths,English, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. My current students have all progressed well throughout the year and I have built up a good working relationship with each of them finding out their strengths and weaknesses so emphasis on learning is tailored to each child's specific needs.

I always take the time to feedback to Parents so they know what is going on in the lessons and I will advise parents of the most suitable books needed for the different exam styles.

I am extremely committed to making sure each child can achieve their goal and work hard to make it happen.

About the lesson

Understanding what each individual child's needs are for each area of the exam. I feel it is very important to build their confidence and encourage each child to believe in themselves and the rewards of working hard towards their goals. Every lesson is tailored to the child and I make them interesting with lots of questioning encouraged when they are unsure. I like the children to feel relaxed while learning and not afraid to approach me when they are unsure. Each lesson will vary depending on the stage we are at so sometimes the focus could be on 1 subject (or an area within that subject) or we might cover parts of 2 different subjects in one lesson. I then tell the child and parent what work to continue with until the next tutoring session takes place.

I am also able to teach small groups of children in my own home if you would prefer your child to work alongside peers with the same goals.
