About Christine
With a Masters Degree in English Literature and over fifteen years of experience teaching English as a Second Language, both privately and in the classroom, I have developed fun and effective ways of teaching all aspects of English to students from every continent and at every level.
I enjoy working with students one-to-one and watching their self-confidence grow as their skills improve. My goal is to help them achieve their goals and rise to a level at which they no longer need my services.

I customize private lessons to suit the needs of each student, whether the focus is conversation, writing, grammar, reading comprehension, or pronunciation and fluency. I have successfully assisted business professionals prepare presentations, edited journal articles and thesis papers for academics, and helped jobseekers prepare cover letters and resumes.
My interests range from baseball and music to business and global affairs, so it is easy to find topics for conversation practice with students and to teach them the skills they need through a topic in which they are interested. For instance, a student who is excellent in mathematics may feel intimidated by essay writing, so I demystify the writing process by demonstrating the similarity between the structure of an essay and the structure of a geometric proof.
I know my subject well enough to be completely improvisational with students whose personalities thrive in a flexible environment, or to choose the right textbooks and exercises for those who prefer more structured lessons.

I ask that students cancel 24 hours prior to a lesson, unless illness or an emergency occurs on the day of or night before the lesson. I charge for 3 or more consecutively cancelled lessons (for reasons other than illness or emergency), unless student pre-arranges them with me.
