About Elina
I have been teaching English for 20 years. I hold a Master's Degree in TESOL from Adelphi University. I have been working with international students who aspire to further their education in American colleges and universities; therefore, I am comfortable teaching all four skills focusing on writing essays, books reviews, reading comprehension and vocabulary enhancement. Having worked as an Academic Director for ELS Language Centers for many years allowed me not only to teach English for academic Purposes courses but also to provide academic guidance and counseling to my students. As a former ESL student ( many moons ago:)), I can relate to the language and cultural challenges my students sometimes endure.

My lessons are students centered. I strive to create teh atmosphere when students feel comfortable asking questions and are not afraid to make mistakes. My motto is " without making mistakes, one can not learn the language". I strongly believe that discussion topics should be relevant to the students' interests; however, students should be proficient enough to converse on any topic brought up in the class.
