About Kristen
I have previously worked as a speech-language pathologist for seven years in the public school setting and online as teletherapy for school-age children. In that profession, I taught features of the English language to students as a part of special education. I hold a Master’s degree of Education, and a TEFL certificate with 140 hours of training.
My relevant skills include: a natural ability to build rapport and connect with students, strong verbal and written communication skills useful for relaying information to students and parents, problem solving skills and flexibility useful for adapting materials and methods to students’ individual needs, interest in the delivery of culturally sensitive practices, and the ability to relate to and effectively work with
students from diverse cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses.
In addition to the aforementioned skills, I’ve always had an affinity for language. Grammar, spelling,
punctuation, syntax, vocabulary, comprehension skills, and conversational skills are all areas of language
that I enjoy learning more about and teaching. Also, I’m currently an independent language learner
myself. Through becoming more fluent in Spanish, I’ve become aware of the challenges and rewards of
learning a second language. I’m an avid world traveler, and cultures other than my own intrigue me
