I am an ESOL tutor and I have hold the necessary and recognised teaching qualifications BA Honours Degree of English and TESOL and also CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults).
I have experience of teaching and training in English subject area and relevant up-to-date knowledge.
I have been teaching English for five years. During my teaching career, I have successfully gained good reference and record of managing and supporting diverse groups. I have been teaching to the students from different ethnic background, age, level, profession, needs and interest, etc. I have also taught to students who may have little experience of education and training. I give one to one private English lesson on various needs, purposes and aims of a learner such as; subject, college, university, profession exams as well as English for business and academic purposes.
I am conscious of the importance of the different life experiences as teachers come from all walks of life. I believe, this aspect is the key to 'good teaching' as it endows teachers with the ability to practice the real life episodes by considering students' needs and interests.
I am a very artistic person and I very much believe in the power of imagination in teaching. That allows me to deliver unique lessons and use/teach any language skills interestingly and effectively. I like to explore and create new things when I do my lesson plans for my students to encourage/motivate and keep their interest on their learning process and progress. By observing, monitoring and eliciting I adapt to the needs and interests of a variety of learners. I have been developed in to a teacher who identifies, improves and shares innovative and creative teaching techniques, methods and resources. My aim is to deliver a positive, balanced and effective teaching and learning interaction where the students are developed into their creative self-expression.
I believe that one of the teachers’ role in teaching is to take students from dependent stage to independent stage and then to the most important stage: the interdependent sage where students can learn about themselves as well as others, can relate with others and realize his/her individual success among others, etc. I promote interaction in the English class by empowering learners and helping them develop their communication skills. I enjoy to build communication among learners and as well as me through entertainment, productive group works and activities such as; ice-breaking activities, role plays, tasks, group research, presentations, group discussions, mock and interviews, trip to various places such as; cinema, theatre, art galleries, museums, etc. etc. I structure tasks with mutual goals that requires each member of group offer a unique contribution to the joint effort. I can skilfully create independent and suitable language learning tasks to different level of students in which I aim at developing students’ thinking skills. I keep my focus on my students at all times. I listen and monitor my students closely but almost invisibly. I observe, gain feedback and take notes around their strengths, weaknesses, needs and interests. I use every previous classroom experience as guidance for the further ones in the aim of to deliver the best lesson to each student of mine according to his/her individual needs.
As I was a ESOL student once, I can relate in confident to my students’ interests, needs and worries. I am very familiar with the problematic and stressful aspects of teaching and learning process and progress. I am aware that certain emotions can act as filters in the flow of learning. Negative feelings such as fear and embarrassment, can interfere with a learner’s ability to process information. My role as a teacher is to deliver a lesson skilfully where the students experience positive feelings in which the classroom interaction are developed and improved at the most effective and successful levels.at all times.
Teaching, planning and well organized lessons, lesson plans, creative ice-breaking activities, delivering lessons around ESOL for Life from different levels by using my own creation of various activities, tasks, discussions, to encourage learners and activate their previous knowledge, experience and imagination. By monitoring value of the work and eliciting, I adapt to needs and interests of a variety of learners. Then I identify, improve and share innovative and creative teaching techniques, methods and resources. I provide useful feedback to myself in reference to my future lessons as well as the learners’ improvement around the English language.
