Hands On is the best way - I think. Online is OK (ish) - but really no substitute for face-to-face, hands-on experience. You will need your own camera and have a mature understanding of what you want to learn and what you want to do with the knowledge. I would prefer groups of like-minded students who can support each-other, as well as absorb ideas they they are exposed to.
Commercial, Advertising and Sports Photographer. Studied on BA(Hons) and MA Photography Courses at Newport - Worked for University as a Student Mentor - Have previously worked in (and qualified in) Business & Finance as well as Fashion Manufacturing. Graduate from University of Wales, Newport as well as Cordwainers College, Hackney (Now part of London School of Fashion) and City of London School.
Costs indicated - are really indications - not set in stone. A 1 hour session will cost £50 - but you are not really going to get much from one hour, so I would prefer you to book 5 x 1 hour sessions at £150 - and ideally as a group of between 5 and 10 people so that your individual costs are reduced. First half hour session is free - but that is really intended to help me understand what your existing knowledge is and what you want from the sessions you book, so that I can help you to learn and achieve your targets. As a commercial photographer, I am VAT registered - so 20% VAT needs to be added to costs - 5 hours ends up as £180 including your contribution of £30 to the UK Tax Office. Travel: is an added cost: if I need to travel 100 miles to you and 100 miles back, that's an extra £45 for the journey.
