About Alison
My careers have spanned from being an Intelligence officer in the British army, a professional singer in an International touring showband, a public relations representative for Shell Oil International, an estate agent, a residential social worker, teaching assistant then qualified teacher. I have four adult children and live in a small village in the Ribble Valley.

Having worked in the teaching profession for the past eighteen years, I have experienced and taught a wide range of subjects from primary school through to GCSE. I write my own lessons in line with the National Curriculum and have covered most exam board syllabuses including AQA, Edexel, Wjec, and OCR.
In addition to a full-time school teaching time-table, I have also taught students privately in their own homes since 2013. They range in age from 4 to 16. Parents usually request support for their children to help with confidence issues or guiding pupils towards entrance exams for grammar schools and formal academic examinations.
I offer lessons after school during week days and on Saturdays.
I am available to teach within the Ribble Valley and shall also be conducting online classes for those who are too far away to visit.
There are no "one size fits all" lessons, I work to the needs and strengths of individual young people.
I aim to make lessons fun and try to tailor content to meet the interests of my students.
