About Tully
Hello! I'm Tully
I am deeply passionate about providing DJ & music education to women, trans, and non-binary people, offering the kind of mentorship I wish I had when I was younger.
I’m also a strong advocate for integrating the vital history of DJing into my lessons, honouring its rich black and queer roots.
Here's some background about me!
I'm originally from South Australia and previously lived in British Columbia in Canada.
At 12 years old, my Mum took me to see the Black Eyed Peas 'The End' tour. This is where I witnessed my first ever DJ set; Will.i.am rose up into the air and commanded the room with music. My little mind was blown &
from this moment I was hooked. During school, I messed around on garage band and virtual DJ for years & started to throw dance parties in my classroom at lunchtime (I eventually got caught by the teachers).
When I was older, I began to attend clubs & parties with my friends where local DJs played. I was always transfixed by the DJs and wondered how on earth they were making these beautiful transitions? What did all the buttons and knobs even do? What kind of magic is this?
As a woman, I struggled with the lack of representation and was faced with barriers to entry. In 2019 after I graduated from my HR degree, I decided to take the leap and saved up for my first piece of DJ equipment. With the aid of YouTube & many hours of experimenting and forcing my housemate to listen to some terrible mixing - I became more confident and skilful. After 5 years of DJing intimate house parties, I decided to put myself out there for my first public performance at a local Pride event. I was absolutely terrified and had a lot of self-doubt but with the support of my friends, I had the best time and it went really well.
Since then my confidence has flourished and I've performed at clubs, events & festivals in Canada, London, Edinburgh & now in Bristol. My music range spans across house, tech-house, techno, trance & disco. In Canada, I held beginner DJ Workshops with a focus on access for females/trans/non-binary people learning the fundamentals and playing on equipment.
I am a part of an all-female DJ collective 'TBH' - we've shared the booth across the city at local hotspots such as The Love Inn, The Croft, Forwards Festival and Love Saves The Day and played alongside top selectors in the scene, appearing on bills with Peach & Papa Nugs.
DJing is very important to me - It is my creative outlet my favourite tool for self-regulation. It's my favourite activity to do with friends, it brings me so much joy. I genuinely enjoy sharing my knowledge and skills with other people and ultimately - HAVE FUN
I currently work three jobs including DJing most weekends across clubs & events in Bristol. My educational background is in HR (including training and development) and I have aspirations to become a therapist.

Tully and I bonded over our love of electronic music and she quickly offered to teach me to DJ, which is something I’d been thinking about for a while, but was too intimidated to try. As a person, Tully is the most open and supportive person I know, which makes her a natural at teaching! During our mix sessions, she taught me the foundations of DJing, then quickly let me have a go to learn ‘by doing’. My favourite thing about her teaching style is that she consistently guided me in the right direction with mixing techniques whilst also urging me to follow my instincts.
Essentially, Tully’s got the perfect combo of having extensive DJing experience whilst still being really warm and approachable, which makes her an excellent DJing teacher! I’d really recommend booking in with her.View more recommendations
