About Tessa
My journey with Excel began during my studies in business information systems, where accurate data handling was essential. I completed a B.Com in Business Information Systems, gaining strong skills in analysis, reporting, and data management. Over 10 years of teaching, I have helped learners move from uncertainty to confidence through calm explanation and structured guidance.
I believe Excel should be taught patiently and practically. My teaching approach focuses on understanding why tools are used, not just how to apply them. This builds independence and long-term confidence in learners.
Outside teaching, I continue exploring advanced Excel features and evolving data practices. Teaching Excel is rewarding because I see learners become more confident and organised. Helping students master data skills motivates my work.

I begin with spreadsheet fundamentals such as layout, formatting, cell references, and data structure so students understand how information flows logically. Lessons emphasise accuracy, clarity, and purpose, helping learners see Excel as a thinking tool rather than just a technical application.
As learners advance, we explore formulae, conditional logic, lookup functions, charts, pivot tables, and basic reporting techniques. Real-world examples from academics, finance, and workplace tasks are used to ensure relevance. Each session includes guided practice, common error discussion, and repetition through varied examples so learners gain independence and consistency.
Learning Excel builds organisation, attention to detail, and analytical confidence. Students often feel empowered when they realise they can control and interpret data effectively. My goal is to help learners use Excel confidently for studies, professional tasks, and long-term career growth.
