About Declan
I have been teaching Spanish for 17+ years and have successfully worked with around 150 High School and College students. Throughout my journey, I have learnt that every student learns differently, which is why I focus on creating lessons that match individual needs. My teaching philosophy is based on encouragement, patience, and steady progress.
My lessons cover grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening, and speaking in a balanced way. I use interactive conversations, worksheets, storytelling, language games, and practical examples to make learning enjoyable. Students are encouraged to participate actively because using the language regularly is the best way to improve.
I provide regular revision sessions and constructive feedback so students understand both their strengths and the areas where they can improve. I also include cultural topics that help students appreciate the Spanish language beyond textbooks.
One of my proudest achievements has been helping many students gain confidence in speaking Spanish while improving their academic performance. Their success reminds me that consistent effort and positive support can make a real difference in education.
My goal is to inspire students to enjoy learning Spanish while developing communication skills that will benefit them in higher education, travel, and future careers.

My Spanish teaching philosophy emphasises lessons that are practical, interactive, and student-centred. Accountability encourages learners to set clear goals, monitor progress, and take responsibility for their learning. Integrity ensures lessons are honest, fair, and tailored to each student’s abilities and challenges.
I embrace Flexibility, modifying lesson content, exercises, and strategies to suit different learning styles, proficiency levels, and personal interests. Communication is central; I encourage conversation, discussion, and interactive exercises to develop fluency, comprehension, and confidence.
A Positive learning environment motivates learners, celebrates achievements, and fosters curiosity. I also integrate related subjects such as grammar, literature, vocabulary, and cultural studies to provide context and enrich learning. My goal is to help students become confident, fluent, and motivated Spanish speakers.
