I tailor lindividual lessons for my students. Each lesson will have a recap/test, some fretboard knowledge and applied theory. My students like having a split lesson - they can learn/tweak certain guitar techniques, expand their own playing and applying it to a song/tune at the end of each lesson.
If my students wish, I can lead them through the Trinity School of Music grade (up and beyond grade 8). If they are preparing for a gig or tour I can tailor the lessons appropriately. If the student wants a more casual approach to learning then I can teach as such. I like to discuss what is desired from each student and come up with a plan for each.
I also like to send homework and write up/recordings of what was covered in each lesson so students can remind themselves about certain points between lessons.
I have been playing guitar for 21 years and have been teaching for 15 years. I have a degree in Contemporary Music Performance. I gained grade 8 in both electric guitar and bass guitar after playing for 8 years.
I have been in many different bands: blues/rock bands, soul bands, metal bands, hip hop bands, funk bands etc. I was a lead/solo guitarist for NYRO (the National Youth Rock Orchestra) for 4 years. I attended summer IGF (International Guitar Federation) guitar maserclasses and have been taught (as well as played onstage with) people such as Paul Gilbert, John Wheatcroft, Stu Hamm, Billy Cobham, Nguyen Le, Matt Schofield and others.
I am interested in many different types of music and like to diversify my own playing.
