About Michaela
I am a Czech Republic born, yet England bred Social Science graduate. Upon completing my uni degree, I was headed to wonderful Brazil (my husband's cradle) where I got the taste of teaching English to Brazilians in two private schools. Despite the schools' satisfaction with my performance, I felt a lack of more in-depth knowledge of the teaching methodologies and decided to enroll myself in an intensive 4-week CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) course. I am now back in Brazil (living on a coast this time) where I run local English classes, as well as work with students online.

My teaching methodology depends on the students' needs. In order to design the most effective course, I analyse the student's needs and knowledge (strengths & weaknesses). Although I have experience in designing courses myself, I have learnt that this practice is best left to the experts. I've chosen the English File (3rd edition) books for my current students who have expressed most interest in improving their oral skills. The books offer a balanced focus on vocabulary, pronunciation and functional language (useful phrases). The language acquisition takes place via engaging, English culture-exploring material.
