About Ryan
I am a seasoned performing artist and educator with over a decade of private teaching experience. I have played a wide variety of music from repertoire standards, to new music, to pop and improvisatory genres. My goal is to help my students develop a loving relationship with music as a tool for self-expression. I have a Master's Degree in Cello Performance as well as an Artist Diploma. I teach lessons at Occidental College and work with several after-school orchestra programs in Los Angeles in addition to my own private students.

Lessons are tailored to each individual and repertoire is highly curated to suit a variety of musical interests. Expect a relaxed and pleasant environment that emphasizes musical discipline and artistry.
My teaching is influenced by the Suzuki method and inspired by the elegance and beauty of nature. Working at your own pace, we will cover repertoire that improves your technique and heightens your musical sensitivity, consistently developing our ability to diagnose issues in our playing and angles from which to tackle those problems.
If you are looking to improve your playing for auditions, conquer a difficult passage in your school orchestra rep, or even just pick up a new hobby, I am here to support you on your musical journey. Additionally, I offer tutoring sessions for other string instruments that, while less technical, are designed to help you develop healthy practice habits while deepening your listening palette.
