My teaching methods are based on hands-on direct experience - believing that students learn best when actually doing the job rather than simply reading about it. I teach is my own flexible production studio where students can expect to compose and produce high quality music of their own.
I am a composer/producer and professor of electronic music at a top London conservatoire. I have over 20 years experience in the fields of composition, media music and music production. I have successfully taught hundreds of students, many of whom now have successful music careers of their own. On the software front, my main expertise is in Logic and Sibelius.

I first met Mike when I went to Chichester college to do my BTec in popular music. from day one he's was friendly helpful and always there to help and if you didn't understand he would find away of explaining so you did. With Mike's help and teaching and patience I managed to carry on in music and get my degree. Thanks again Mike.
I studied under Mike for 4 years at the guildhall. Not only is he an inspiring composer to learn from he is also a genuinely lovely person who cares about each and every student under him. It was a absolute pleasure to have had Mike as my tutor.
Mike was my head of department throughout my time at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
Mike is a great teacher, with a broad spectrum of musical knowledge ranging from traditional theory and classical music, to contemporary electronic styles.
Mike was head of music at Chichester college when I was studying btec music. I can not describe how much of an influence and positive effect of his tuition, encouragement and guidance has had on me as a person and professional musician. I owe him a great deal as it was directly due to him that I have been able to build a solid career as a musician, supporting my wife and children. He’s a life changer
Mike's a great musician and wonderful teacher. He was able to effectively tutor a class which ranged in expertise from the experienced down to the completely amateur (me!) - a great guy to learn from and get to know. He's also got a great knowledge of music beyond his specific field which really lends credibility to his teaching. An all-round good egg.
Mike is a thoughtful and patient teacher who helped guide me through my musical education. I have now been a professional composer for film, TV and theatre for nearly 20 years and I can honestly say I wouldn't be doing what I do if it hadn't been for Mikes guidance through my school and university years.
I was very fortunate to have Mike as my Electronic Music teacher for four years whilst at college. I really appreciated his great passion for the subject and his endless patience. Mike is very understanding and supportive of his students and was always happy to give his advice, which was invariably excellent.
I highly recommend Mike to anyone interested in learning Music Production and Electronic Music. Mike was one of my Professors at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and I always looked forward to our classes with him. He is an incredibly knowledgeable teacher, very patient and also fun. He really cares about his students and helps them thrive in a calm and inspiring environment.
