About Adam
Since picking up the sticks age 11, I’ve been obsessed with playing the drums and music, joining my first band aged 13.
Following several years of private tuition from a great tutor and now a personal friend and colleague, John Dagnall (Tito Jackson, Diane Shaw), I went on to obtain my first qualification with a certificate in Music Performance and Technology in Manchester. Hungry for more education, I attended BIMM Manchester for a 1-year course, where I studied with teachers Brian Hargreaves (Ben E. King, Brian May) and Luke Flowers (The Cinematic Orchestra).
Desperate to get into the industry full-time, I did a 1-year tour working on a cruise ship that took me around 5 continents, performing with both the house band, and the show orchestra. This refined my technique, vastly improved my reading and pushed me to then return back to the UK to focus on studying.
With a keen personal interest in business and the progress of digital marketing in music, I decided to complete a BSc in Business and Marketing at Bayes Business School, London. During and after University, I continued playing regular weddings, functions, residencies, and original session work. I also worked as a teacher with 20 weekly private students, alongside remote recording from my home studio.
In September 2022, I began my course at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance to attain a Masters in Music, studying with world-renowned drummer, Gabor Dornyei (Stanley Jordan, Andy Whitmore).

I am available for 1-1 private tuition around North-West and Central London. I am fully DBS checked, and happy to travel to your practice space. I am currently studying a Masters in Music Performance at ICMP.
I have been teaching aspiring musicians and players for almost as long as I’ve been playing, however in 2021 in Manchester I was asked to join the teaching cohort for a high-end independent music school called Aura Music Academy in Altrincham.
In total, I was teaching 20 regular weekly students ages 5-43. Within a year I helped students achieve several grades, over the Rockschool and Trinity syllabi, up to grade 8. I have a 100% Pass rate for grade exams with 12 students achieving a Merit this year.
My teaching philosophy is based on a song-learning approach. The reason why we play the drums (most of the time), is so we can play songs, and play with others. Whether jamming along at home or performing with a live band, it is the very core of what we do. Therefore, I believe every lesson should include a song, whether this is something we are working towards playing, or simply a source of inspiration.
I strongly encourage a proper sense of technique, ergonomically optimised setup, and stick grip from the get-go; this helps a natural progression and reduces technical roadblocks that often can hold even the keenest learner.
Additionally, my lessons will also include sheet music and building a student’s ability to read notation. I recognise that all students learn differently, and even If the focus isn’t entirely on the notes on the paper, a good understanding of rhythmic notation provides a great visual aid and adds to a student’s abilities.
My lessons are minimum 45 minutes.
