About Joseph
Hi, I’m Joe, a Politics graduate and online tutor with experience teaching English language lessons to students from different backgrounds and levels.
My teaching style is calm, patient, and supportive, and I aim to create a relaxed learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence step-by-step.
I also had a maths tutor myself while at school and remember how helpful it was to have someone explain things clearly and make the subject feel less overwhelming. That experience gave me a real appreciation for the impact supportive tutoring can have on confidence and motivation.
I mainly teach maths up to GCSE level, including KS3 and Foundation/Higher GCSE support, with a particular interest in algebra and problem solving. My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them feel more confident and capable over time.

My approach to tutoring is patient, supportive, and focused on helping students build confidence step-by-step. I understand that many students struggle with maths because they feel overwhelmed or have gaps in their foundations, so I aim to create a calm learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s level and goals, whether they need help strengthening core skills, preparing for exams, or improving confidence in specific topics. I focus on breaking problems down into clear, manageable steps and making sure students fully understand the method rather than simply memorising answers.
I mainly teach maths up to GCSE level, including KS3 and Foundation/Higher GCSE support. I particularly enjoy teaching algebra and helping students build confidence in problem solving and core maths skills.
A typical online lesson lasts around 60 minutes and usually includes:
- reviewing previous topics and identifying problem areas
- step-by-step explanations and worked examples
- guided practice questions
- independent practice with support and feedback
- exam-style questions where appropriate
Alongside maths tutoring, I also have experience teaching English language lessons online, which has helped me develop strong communication skills, patience, and an adaptable teaching style suited to different types of learners.
