About Rachel
I have been a fully qualified English teacher in Scotland for 11 years, teaching all years of a secondary school level, but specialising in senior qualification levels (Nationals 3/4/5, Higher and Advanced Higher). I have been tutoring privately for the past 9 years and those pupils, alongside my own in-school classes, have all achieved high results. I am up to date with any and all changes made to the curriculum and I also mark the English exam papers and folio submissions for the SQA at a National 5 and Higher level so I am very familiar with exam practice and standards. I have a diverse and extensive knowledge of most texts and am up to date with course updates and curricular content. Note: I am currently on maternity leave so also have availability and flexibility for daytime tutoring sessions as well as evening.

I base my teaching and tutoring entirely on the needs of the individual pupil. I will assess their skills initially and together with the pupil's own feedback I can tailor a tutoring programme which will best suit the needs of the pupil, whether that be an open time frame or under a time limit (i.e. countdown to exams). My lessons are based entirely on the needs and input of the pupil (if they have any) and if not then I will address the key skills needed to pass the examinations and develop them to a high level.

Perfect! Only one lesson so far but Rachel seems to be an excellent tutor for Nat 5 English
Perfect! Rachel created an almost instant rapport with both my son and daughter. Their enthusiasm to meet with Rachel was fantastic to see and hear, and their skills and confidence in English progressed significantly very quickly.
