I have been studying English since I was four years old. I am Brazilian/Italian, and have been living in Ireland for the last three years, having come over initially for a course. I decided to remain here to be fully integrated in the language. I read several books a month and also like to go to the theatre, cinema, parks and museums.
Having taught students across a variety of ages, I tailor my approach depending on which age group I have at the time. I like to get my students active in learning, with many activities and games to encourage participation. I find this approach works much better than sticking strictly to textbooks or workbooks.
I have taken part in many teachers workshops, which have given me great tips in how to get students better engaged in class. My goal in teaching is for students to enjoy the work they put into learning the language. I have had teachers in the past do the same for me, and that attitude has helped me get to the point I am at now. I’ve worked as an English teacher in two different private schools for one and a half years in Brazil. Since coming to Ireland. I’ve been teaching private lessons.
