About Amy
I became a teacher because I genuinely love helping young people grow in confidence and realise what they are capable of achieving. English has always been a subject I’m passionate about because it gives students a voice, strengthens communication skills and opens doors for the future.
I know that every student learns differently, and I pride myself on creating a calm, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building confidence step by step. Many of the students I work with come to me feeling anxious about English or unsure of their abilities, and one of the most rewarding parts of tutoring is seeing that confidence develop over time.
I want to teach because I enjoy making learning accessible, encouraging and personalised. Whether a student is aiming for top grades, needs support catching up, or simply wants to feel more confident in lessons and exams, I’m committed to helping them succeed

My lessons are calm, supportive and personalised. I believe students make the most progress when they feel safe, encouraged and understood. Whether your child needs targeted GCSE support, help catching up, or confidence rebuilding, I adapt sessions to suit their needs.
I specialise in:
• GCSE English Language & Literature
• Building confidence in reluctant or anxious learners
• Reading, spelling and essay-writing skills
• Exam preparation and revision strategies
• Support for students with gaps in learning or low confidence
• EBSA-friendly and nurturing tuition
As a former Head of English, my department achieved a 98% GCSE pass rate, and I understand exactly what exam boards are looking for. I also work as an examiner, so I can help students improve technique, structure and marks quickly and effectively.
I offer:
• Online or in-person tuition (one or two hour sessions)
• 1:1 sessions
• Tailored resources and feedback
• Flexible support during exam periods
