About Debbie
I have a BA (Hons) Degree in English Literature and Victorian Studies (1992) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (1994).
I have been a teacher for 25 years and a Head of English for 8 years. I have also tutored Year 6 SATS, 11+, 12+, 13+, Independent School entry examinations, Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level in the past. In January I left the state education system to set up as a private teacher and tutor. I have experience in special educational needs as well as stretching the most able students.

I start with language comprehension skills as I believe this to be the best guide to where a student is starting. From doing this exercise I can assess a starting point and then begin to identify gaps in knowledge and where the student needs to support to comprehend and progress. I teach all children as I would like my own children to be taught with a firm belief that every child matters and every child is individual so my methodology is to assess and then work out a unique learning plan for that child.
