About Samuel
Music has been a huge part of my life for many years, both as a teacher and a performer. Alongside my 12 years of teaching experience, I have worked in a variety of musical settings that have helped shape my approach as a musician and educator.
My experience includes working as a Musical Director for a theatre company in Durham, directing a jazz ensemble and performing as a pianist in a funk band. I have also taught music and piano internationally at Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland, one of the world’s leading boarding schools.
I hold a Master’s degree from Durham University and currently work as a Head of Performing Arts. I am passionate about helping students develop their skills and confidence in a supportive, professional and enjoyable learning environment, whatever their age, experience or musical ambitions.

I believe learning the piano should be enjoyable, rewarding and tailored to you! Whether you’re a complete beginner, returning to the piano after a break, or looking to develop your existing skills, I’ll adapt lessons to suit your individual goals and musical interests.
My lessons are relaxed, supportive and practical, combining technique, music theory, listening skills and, most importantly, playing music you enjoy. Whether you love classical music, pop, film music or something completely different, we can build your lessons around the music that inspires you.
Lessons are typically 30, 45 or 60 minutes long and are suitable for children, teenagers and adults of all abilities. I hold a Master’s degree from Durham University and have over 12 years of teaching experience, including as a Head of Performing Arts.
Whether you’re learning purely for enjoyment or working towards graded exams, I’d love to help you develop your confidence and enjoy your journey with the piano.
