About Wilfred
Hi Everyone :-),
Here is some information about me:
- I have previously worked as a science teacher at Hsinchu International School in Taiwan (I taught Physics, Mathematics, and Environmental Science to high-school students).
- I have an MSci in Physics from the University of Bristol, UK (graduated with a 2:1 Honours).
- I have a BSc in Product Design and Technology from Loughborough University, UK (graduated with a 2:1 Honours).
- I have worked as an Engineer both in Singapore (Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology) and the UK (Dyson Ltd).
- I have also worked in conservation in the UK (Natural England).
- I have A-levels in Physics, Mathematics, Biology, and Design Technology (AAAA).
- I have a 100-hour TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification.
I am passionate about science and nature. I love to break subjects down into their basic components and show the student that, at it's core, scientific concepts are often not as complex as they first appear. I also love to inspire students - I think that science is fascinating and students just need the right tutor to realise this. I'm also very calm and patient, and don't believe that pressurising a student is the right way to make them learn.

Before I can start teaching you, I first need to find out the following:
- Which exams are you preparing for (A-level, O-level, ...)?
- Which exam board (CAIE, Edexcel, AQA, ...)?
- Do you want to focus on any specific topics (forces, waves, particle physics, gravity, ...)?
- Do you have a specific aim (maximise your exam grade, improve your understanding, ...)?
From this information I can create lessons tailored to your needs.
As I teach you I will find out more about your strengths and weaknesses, your preferences for learning (auditory, visual, reading and writing), and what works for you in general. As a result I can increasingly adapt my lessons to suit you.
After our first free lesson, you can continue with me, and we can do as many topics as you like! If you prefer not to you can also change to another tutor, no hard feelings.
My lessons typically go like this:
- Introduce topic
- Describe and explain the core components of the topic
- Go through example problem with you
- Give you a problem to solve with my assistance
- Go through more problems if we have time and it is helpful
- Summarise what we've learnt
- Talk about the next lesson if requested
