About Shahrizan
Who I Am I’ve spent years working in the hospitality and tourism industry, helping hotels, resorts, and travel brands tell their stories through marketing campaigns, editorial content, social media posts, and promotional materials. My specialty has always been in translation and transcription, but not the mechanical kind—you know, the kind where words just get swapped. I focus on transcreating: adapting messages so they resonate emotionally with different cultures and audiences. I’ve been on the inside of real campaigns, where the right word choice could make the difference between a post that gets ignored and one that drives bookings. That’s the level of precision and creativity I bring to teaching. ⸻ Why I Want to Teach I’m teaching because I’ve realized something important: the skill of turning words into experiences isn’t taught in classrooms. Most people learn language academically, but they don’t get to see how it lives in the real world—how it sells, how it connects, how it creates desire. I want to help students: • Bridge the gap between language learning and real marketing application. • Build confidence not just as translators, but as storytellers and cultural connectors. • Walk away with practical skills they can apply in tourism, media, or even freelance work. For me, teaching isn’t just about passing on knowledge—it’s about mentoring someone to think like a professional who can thrive in the industry.

Private Tutoring Lesson Plan (Demo) Subject Focus: Translation & Transcription for Social Media, Editorial, Marketing, and Tourism 1. Introduction (5–10 mins) • Warm-up: Quick personal intro (“I’ve spent years in marketing, translating and adapting content for global hospitality brands…”) • Student’s Goals: Ask about their interests—do they want to focus on tourism, digital marketing, social media content, or general business translation? • Promise: Highlight that my approach is practical, industry-tested, and tailored—not textbook-only. 2. Why My Approach Works (5 mins) • Real-life application: Explain that in the hospitality/tourism sector, translation isn’t just word-for-word—it’s about evoking emotions, selling experiences, and matching cultural tone. • Marketing edge: Share one quick example (e.g., how “luxury beachfront villa” was adapted differently for English speaking travelers vs. Malay travelers). • Student takeaway: They’ll learn not just language, but how to think like a marketer and cultural storyteller. 3. Sample Mini-Lesson (20 mins) Activity 1 – Social Media Caption Translation • Show an Instagram post from a hotel/resort. • Ask the student to attempt a simple translation into their target language. • Then demonstrate how to refine it: adding local nuance, adapting for tone, shortening for engagement. • Quick reflection: “See how a literal translation misses the emotional punch? That’s where my method comes in.” Activity 2 – Editorial Snippet • Share a short press release or campaign tagline. • Walk through your step-by-step process: 1. Understand the marketing intent. 2. Identify cultural traps. 3. Transcreate into language that sells. 4. Personal Approach (10 mins) • Tailored coaching: Every student’s lessons are customized based on their industry goals (social media, PR, tourism campaigns, etc.). • Hands-on practice: Use real briefs from hospitality and tourism campaigns. • Feedback style: Constructive, detailed, and industry-ready (not just grammatical corrections). 5. Wrap-up & Convincing Close (5 mins) • Reiterate the value: “I’m not just teaching translation—I’m teaching you to think like a professional content marketer.” • Give a mini roadmap of what they’d achieve in 4–6 lessons: • Lesson 1–2: Social Media mastery • Lesson 3–4: Editorial & PR adaptation • Lesson 5–6: Full marketing campaign translation & final project • Close with an inviting note: “If you’re ready, we’ll start building your portfolio piece by piece, so you’ll walk away with real examples you can showcase to clients or employers.”
