About Despina
I’m a dedicated educator with six years of international experience in tutoring, formal classrooms, and community education across the UK and USA. My background spans social sciences, writing, reading comprehension, ESL, and the arts, including photography and visual studies. I hold Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in writing and linguistics and am currently completing my Level 5 TEFL certification.
I’m passionate about teaching because I’ve seen how education builds confidence, opens opportunities, and connects people across cultures. I aim to create a supportive, engaging space where students feel comfortable growing at their own pace.

I take a student-centred approach, tailoring each lesson to individual goals—whether conversation, grammar, pronunciation, or exam preparation. I use interactive techniques to build confidence and practical skills. Lessons typically last 60 minutes. I hold Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in writing and linguistics and am completing a Level 5 TEFL certification. I have taught in both the UK and USA across tutoring settings, formal classrooms, and volunteer roles, working with students aged 8 through adulthood in SAT prep, school exams, essay writing, and reading comprehension, as well as supporting international learners as a Teaching Assistant. My lessons are suitable for all levels and ages.
