About Laura
¡Hola! I`m an experienced native Spanish tutor with over 2 years experience. My passion is getting my pupils to love my mother tongue as much as I do. I was born in Spain to a Spanish mother and British father. I grew up in Zaragoza, a little-known city in the North East of Spain. In 2016 I moved to Northern Ireland where I obtained my Bachelor`s degree; graduating from Ulster University with a First class BA Hons degree in Journalism with Education graduate in 2019. During my degree I was trained in child protection by the NSPCC. I am fully bilingual and British citizen. Last year I worked at a local Grammar School as a Spanish language assistant with GCSE and A level pupils. Most of my time was spent helping A level Spanish pupils prepare for their exams and achieve their goals. The previous year, I had done a placement in this school as part of my degree and I helped year 9 and year 10 pupils to improve their speaking and listening skills. I helped to make the start of their journey with the Spanish language on the right foot. Happy to provide great references from this school. Before moving to the UK, I worked as an English tutor in Spain with pupils of all ages both in an English academy and in a summer camp setting. Thanks to this experience I am confident working with children, teens, and adults.

I understand that we each learn differently, and I will find the best approach to help you achieve your goals. Although I was born in Spain, I am fully bilingual which allows me use English when necessary to explain the grammar and anything you are having issues with. I believe that you learn a language by using it. Because of this, I encourage that Spanish is spoken as much as possible during the lessons. In traditional classrooms, one of the key factors that can often both slow your learning and turn it into something you dread is the fear of making mistakes and asking questions which is why personal tutoring can be so helpful in changing how you feel about the subject. I believe that there is no stupid question and mistakes are an important part of learning. My first goal is to help you become more confident and comfortable with Spanish, rather than just focusing on your pronunciation or your writing skills. Let me know what your objectives are, and I will do my best to find a way to help you.
