About Ritika
I am a Business lecturer with over 10 years' experience, in the NZ and overseas tertiary institutes at level 7. I have a CELTA, TESOL, and TKT. I am a reiki master healer as well. I have taught a class of a minimum of 35 to a hall of 200 students at a time. My students are at managerial positions at various companies. I have been an English tutor with a private institution for kids from years 1 to year 8 for 7 months including online teaching. I have been a volunteer for approximately 1 year with a primary school for a parent guide reading program that included guiding year 1 and 2 students to read storybooks and with their word rings.

My belief is good listening skills and activity-based exercises that involve a lot of interaction between and amongst students along with a 20% teacher talk time and 80% student talk time. Feedback sessions are an essential and integral part of my lessons. The activities and lessons should be aligned with the curriculum, but, as a mentor and guide, we need to keep in mind the needs of the student and their areas of improvement as well. They will grow in confidence to read longer, more complex texts, instead of relying on rote memorization of words. Some of the activities that I have done are reading storybooks, word chains, and improving the spellings.
