About Yohana
I am an Industrial Engineer with a MBA in Business Management .
During my work experience I have always shared my time between administrative functions and tutoring / teaching English and Spanish, from 15-year-old students to professionals, under the general curricula of the English / Spanish Basic Language program at the institution where I have been hired. This experience has taught me to organize my classes as an independent teacher. I view the classroom as a forum where my role is primarily to facilitate the students’ own discovery of core concepts, providing my own expertise when necessary. To this end, I have developed lab tutorials and activities that make use of multimedia technology to connect theory to practice. I believe that my approach has been successful as evidenced by the high scores that I have received on my student evaluations. That evaluation evidence my passion and enthusiasm in helping students achieve their goals in the English language learning process as well as develop their skills. I am highly committed to contributing to the productivity and success of the department. I make the time to assist the students and attend talks given by invited speakers and colleagues.

My teaching methodology consists in combing the Communicative language teaching, Audio-lingual method and learning strategy training. However; It’ll depend on the learners’ expectations and needs.
Knowing the learners expectations and needs in order to focus all the activities in the right direction.
Establishing clear learning objectives and giving them all the courses content and activities, including when grading assignments will be, responding to emails, timeline assignments, posting to discussion boards among other points.
Connecting with each learner right away and throughout the course. They have to feel they’re welcome and engaged .
Helping them to be more successful by encouraging them to be more self directed, manage their time efficiently and practice good online learning behaviors.
Discussion forum in every class for about 30 minutes, encouraging them to participate and where my role is primarily to facilitate the learners’ own discovery of core concepts, providing my own expertise when necessary. This activity helps to know better each other.
