About Jonathan
I am British, but I moved with my family to Brazil at the age of ten, and then to Portugal when I was eighteen.
Moving at such a young age meant I picked up the language quickly, and soon became indistinguishable among the natives with a fluent Brazilian accent.
While living in Brazil I started teaching conversational English, and later in Portugal I worked as an interpreter on construction sites where there were a mix of English and Portuguese speakers. In Portugal was where I first started teaching Portuguese to local expats looking to integrate further into their new home. It brought me joy to see the progress they made each week and hear of the conversations they were having with their neighbours.
Now, nearly 10 years later, I offer online lessons from my home near Manchester. My goal is to help people build their confidence in using the beautiful Portuguese language, so that they are able to make conversation about subjects they're interested in and use the language out in the real world.

I hold conversational Portuguese lessons to help you practise your Portuguese for travel or work.
My focus is on getting the words flowing, rather than calling out little mistakes. This way we can build up your confidence in communicating in Portuguese, and focus on getting smoother and comfortable before adding in the details. Brazilians are very happy to see someone putting in the effort to communicate, and are forgiving of mistakes, so don't let it hold you back.
My experience comes from spending 12+ years living in both Brazil and Portugal. I moved at a very young age and did most of my schooling in Brazil. This is the knowledge I pull from when teaching you how to communicate in Portuguese.
