About Dom
I am an experienced Prep School teacher with 10 years of teaching experience, specialising in children aged 7 to 11. I have taught across the KS2 curriculum and have extensive experience supporting pupils with Maths, English, Science and 11+ preparation.
I hold an IPGCE qualification and have a particular interest in History, having studied the subject at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Alongside classroom teaching, I have experience preparing children for entrance examinations and supporting pupils with a wide range of abilities and learning needs.
I am a calm, patient and encouraging teacher who believes that confidence is an important part of successful learning. I aim to create lessons where children feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and tackling challenging problems without feeling overwhelmed.
Having taught throughout the Covid lockdowns, I also have considerable experience delivering structured lessons online. I understand how to keep pupils engaged remotely while maintaining a clear and purposeful approach to learning.
Above all, I enjoy helping children realise that they are capable of more than they sometimes think. My goal is to make learning enjoyable while ensuring that pupils make genuine, measurable progress.

My lessons are friendly, supportive and carefully tailored to each pupil. With 10 years of experience teaching in a Prep School, I have worked extensively with children across Years 3 to 6 and have a strong understanding of the expectations of the KS2 curriculum and 11+ examinations.
I believe children learn best when they understand why something works, rather than simply learning a method by rote. Lessons therefore focus on developing secure foundations, building confidence and gradually encouraging greater independence.
Whether a pupil needs help consolidating key mathematical skills, support with a particular area of difficulty or greater challenge beyond the school curriculum, I adapt each lesson to suit their individual needs. I also have extensive experience preparing pupils for 11+ examinations, helping them become comfortable with unfamiliar questions and develop effective problem-solving strategies.
My aim is for every pupil to finish a lesson feeling that they have achieved something, understood something more clearly and are increasingly confident in their own ability.
