About Maddy
I have over 15+ years of experience in instrumental tutoring of brass and bass instruments, with a passion for teaching beginners and young students. I believe in a holistic and individual approach to teaching, working with parents and students to foster a positive relationship in order to help them achieve their goals.
I also work as a peripatetic music educator for schools – conducting small ensembles through to large concert bands, and even running entire music programs as the Music Director. I have experience working with students aged 6 – 18 years, across a variety of different settings and genres (string ensemble, jazz ensemble, rock band, concert band, orchestra, etc.)

Electric/Double Bass - Beginner to Advanced
Qualifications:
- I am currently studying a Master of Education at the Royal Music College London (UK)
- Prior to that, I was studying a Master of Teaching at the University of New England (AUS)
- I completed a Bachelor of Music Jazz Performance (Double Bass) at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (AUS)
- By age 18 I was performing at AMusA level in classical Trumpet at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (AUS)

Perfect! We had an amazing trial lesson with Maddy. She was fun, kind and really took her time with my daughter as she was a bit shy. We have signed up for lessons with her on the future.

Maddy is an amazing Professional Music Educator - Engaging. Experienced. Encouraging. Inspiring. Motivational. Knowledgable. Passionate to music. Friendly and Fun!
My son started to learn trumpet with Maddy when he was 9 (then followed her for 3 years until she moved out of town). Practising music is never easy for young children. But Maddy seems having magic to engage her students. (Yes, even playing scale is a fun thing to do!) She has a lot of fun ideas to learn music, but never compromise the quality and endeavour to build good music foundation. She encourages her students to learn different types of music, as well as giving them chances to make their own. Maddy inspires her students by sharing her musical knowledge and her own journey of being a professional musician. It helps my son to love music!
Maddy is also a highly commended conductor. Even during COVID, she found a lot of great ideas to engage the students to learn music (including my son).
I would strongly highly recommend Maddy as your next music educator. She is very helpful and easy to talk to. I hope you will be blessed in the same way as we did.Maddy was my son's trumpet teacher for many years. Her skill, enthusiasm and patience has taken him to a high level. Maddy is the best trumpet instructor (tutor) ever. My daughter, Ariel, has been her student for 4 years , Ariel enjoys learning with her because Maddy is such a friendly person, understands my child, encourages and supports what my child needs.
