About Loz
I’m a professional brass musician with over 10 years’ experience performing and teaching across a wide range of styles. I’ve performed with ensembles including the Cardiff University Symphony Orchestra, and worked professionally on productions such as the touring West End show Sister Act.
Alongside this, I’ve played with a range of established bands and artists including Afro Cluster, Lazy Habits, High Contrast Live Band, Dr Meaker, and The Siglo Section, giving me extensive experience across jazz, funk, and contemporary styles, as well as classical performance.
I’ve also contributed to studio recordings for artists including Darkhouse Family, N’famady Kouyaté, and High Contrast, further developing my experience as a versatile working musician.
Through performing in lots of different settings—from orchestras to touring shows and bands—I’ve learned that music should feel natural, expressive and enjoyable, not just something you’re trying to get through. That’s something I try to bring into lessons.
I like to keep sessions focused but relaxed. We’ll work on technique and fundamentals, but always with a clear goal in mind—whether that’s sounding better, playing more confidently, or just enjoying it more. I’m not a fan of overly rigid, box-ticking lessons; people learn best when they feel comfortable and engaged.
Teaching one-to-one is especially rewarding because I can adapt to each student properly—everyone learns differently, and that’s where real progress happens.
