About Liv
Hello! I’m a qualified (QTS) secondary science teacher with a passion for helping young people discover that science is for everyone.
Over the past few years I’ve taught hundreds of students aged 11–16 in a mainstream secondary school, specialising in Physics while teaching Biology and Chemistry across Key Stage 3 and GCSE. I’ve also worked as a Head of Science, giving me a broad understanding of the curriculum and how students develop throughout secondary school.
One of the things I enjoy most about teaching is making difficult ideas feel simple. I believe that great teachers are, above all, great explainers. Seeing a student suddenly have that “lightbulb moment” is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.
Whether a student is aiming for a Grade 9, needs support to build confidence, or simply wants science to make a bit more sense, I enjoy helping them achieve their goals in a calm, encouraging, and supportive environment. My aim is not only to improve results but also to help students leave each lesson feeling more confident in their own ability.

Every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to their individual needs, goals, and learning style. Whether we’re filling gaps in knowledge, preparing for GCSE exams, or stretching towards the highest grades, my lessons are designed to build understanding as well as confidence.
I begin by identifying what a student already understands before tackling misconceptions and introducing new ideas through clear, memorable explanations. We then reinforce learning using worked examples, exam-style questions, and retrieval practice so that knowledge sticks and students feel prepared for assessments.
Alongside classroom teaching, I have extensive experience supporting students with SEND and adapting lessons to suit a wide range of learners. My background as a Head of Science has also given me a deep understanding of curriculum planning, assessment, and the progression of scientific knowledge from Key Stage 3 through to GCSE.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, giving us plenty of time for explanation, discussion, practice, and questions without feeling rushed. I teach students aged 11–16, including Key Stage 3 and GCSE Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
