About Jenny
120 hour Premier Online TEFL qualification (expected completion September). I have tutored children in English when I lived with a family in the north of Spain for 4 months. My techniques included teaching two children aged 3 and 7 through song, play, and reading and writing. I also have experience teaching older children - during exam periods I spent one-on-one time with students (aged between 12 and 18) teaching and preparing them for mathematics and science exams. In this role I became adept at preparing lessons and study materials in a range of topics to both educate students and crucially, maintain interest. I learned to “listen to understand, not to reply” – by doing this I am able to gauge a student’s level of understand of a topic and provide genuine feedback.

I like to take a fun, flexible approach to teaching. I prepare an outline for the lesson or topics that we want to cover, but am adaptable and willing to take another direction if the student prefers. I believe the best way to learn English is to simply start speaking it - so I'm always keen for a conversation! As a learner of Spanish, I can appreciate the challenge of a new language and understand which techniques work for tutoring.
