About Dr Sam

i am a Chartered Chemical Engineer (C.Eng) with a First-Class MEng (Hons) degree from the University of Surrey and a Doctorate in Engineering (EngD). With over 11 years of tutoring experience, I’ve helped students from primary school through to GCSE, A-Level and University level develop a strong understanding of Science.

My engineering and academic background gives me a deep understanding of Chemistry, Physics and Maths, allowing me to explain complex scientific ideas in a way that is clear, engaging and easy to understand.

Whether your child is struggling with a particular topic, preparing for important exams, or aiming for the highest grades, my lessons are personalised, structured and focused on building both knowledge and confidence.

As a parent, you can be confident your child is learning from a highly qualified professional with real academic and industry expertise, as well as years of experience supporting students to achieve their goals.

About the lesson

My lessons are personalised, engaging and exam-focused, designed around each student’s individual needs and goals.

Before each session, I can prepare clear, detailed notes tailored to the topics the student would like to cover. These notes provide a valuable resource for future revision, helping students build a strong and organised knowledge base throughout their studies.

Lessons are carefully structured around the relevant exam-board specification and past examination questions. Rather than simply giving students the answers, I work through problems alongside them, encouraging them to think, apply their knowledge and develop their problem-solving skills.

If a student is struggling with a particular concept, we can take a step back and rebuild their understanding from the fundamentals, progressing at a pace that works for them. My aim is not just to help students memorise content, but to develop genuine scientific understanding, confidence and exam technique.

Ultimately, I want every student to leave a lesson thinking: “I understand this now — and I know how to tackle it myself.”

Sam was an excellent teacher in maths and science for my child in lebanon, when my child needed him he explained problem solving methods step by step which helped my child to not only be better in maths and science but to also enjoy both subjects. This led to my child achieving over 80% in both subjects for final exams in high school.

Highly recommend sam, 'great tutor' quoted by my child.

Sam has been tutoring my son's for the last few months now, and having sat in on a few of his lessons. I can honestly say that each lesson is tailored to the ability and goals of each of his students.

Apart from freeing up more of my time when working from home. He has helped my son's become more confident in their ability and taught them how to tackle difficult math problems.
