About Cath
I have been passionate about art since I was a child and as a teenager was determined to go to art college. I completed my Fine Art degree and decided to teach. Teaching art in London was challenging but hugely enjoyable, I loved being in the classroom with teenagers, exploring different materials, developing sketchbooks, visiting art galleries and introducing them to new techniques, media and ideas. As a head of art I was also responsible for running the department, developing schemes of work and organising the GCSE art exhibition which was always one of the highlights of the school year. I was so excited to see how students developed their skills and techniques over the 2-year course and the pride they felt displaying their work in the final show. I left London after 20 years teaching and now live in Gloucestershire where I am focused on developing my own work based on the beautiful countryside around where I live.

My lessons are tailored to suit individual students' particular needs working collaboratively with the student. My aim is to help increase confidence and improve subject knowledge. I encourage visual understanding through drawing from observation where possible, looking at different artists' work and exploring a range of materials and techniques in order to develop your technical skills, ideas and confidence. I have a degree in Fine Art and a PGCE in Art and Design as well as 20 years of art teaching experience up to and including A level.

I have known Cath since we trained as teachers in 1986.
She subsequently went on to teach in London and became the head of a very successful Art department there. Cath is highly experienced in teaching Art and Design at GCSE and A Level, and has achieved results at the highest level.
She continues to paint and enjoys painting the landscapes and surrounding areas of Stroud.
