About Ameen
I'm Ameen, a Yemeni-born barista with 5 years of speciality coffee experience and a background in User Experience (UX) design. Growing up amid war and seeking asylum, I developed resilience and passion that fuel my work today. Early in my career, I had the unique opportunity to share a kitchen with Gordon Ramsay, where I honed my attention to detail and dedication to craft. Currently, I manage coffee catering at the Gherkin building, one of London’s most iconic venues. I offer lessons on weekends and some weekdays between 6–8pm. My UX design background helps me focus on the user experience in every aspect of coffee—from brewing techniques to customer service. I tailor each session to your individual needs, combining practical skills with the rich cultural stories behind every cup. Whether you're a home brewer or aspiring barista, I’m here to help you build confidence, knowledge, and passion for coffee.

Whether you're a passionate home brewer, an aspiring barista, or opening your own café, my lessons are designed to match your goals. With 5 years of experience in the speciality coffee industry—including running my own coffee shop—I offer practical, hands-on training for all levels. You'll learn to master: Espresso extraction and dialling in consistently Latte art: hearts, tulips, rosettas, swans, and more Milk steaming for perfect texture and temperature Manual brewing methods: V60, Chemex, AeroPress, French Press, Kalita Wave, Moka Pot Traditional methods like Ibrik (Turkish coffee), including technique and cultural context Roast profiles: understanding light to dark roasts and how they affect flavour Caffeine control: from high-caffeine brews to caffeine-free alternatives Grind size, coffee-to-water ratios, water temperature, and extraction time Basic machine care and efficient workflow Customer service and tips for running or starting a coffee business What makes these lessons unique is the cultural depth and storytelling I bring. I include a brief yet engaging history of coffee—from its roots in Ethiopia and Yemen to its global evolution. I also share real community stories from around the world, showing how coffee continues to bring people together and create social impact. I've studied the chemistry of coffee, so I can explain how elements like grind size, water, and roast affect both flavour and caffeine content. These sessions combine art, science, and culture—making them both informative and inspiring. After each session, you'll receive printable guides, online slides, and coffee-related freebies to continue learning at your own pace. Lessons are available in person (at your home or coffee space) or online, and are fully customised to your needs.
