About Payton
I'm a dedicated student curating lessons for fellow high school and middle school students! Writing has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember, so much so that I plan to study it in college and make it my career! Through helping my classmates in their understanding of the essay-writing process, I've also found a love for teaching. Though I'm new to the tutoring scene, I'm prepared and beyond excited to help students like myself grow, not only in the context of their writing abilities, but also in their confidence. I believe that expressing yourself through written words is an important skill to have, and that with enough practice and guidance, anyone can write an outstanding essay! My Writing-Related Achievements Include: - Winning "Best 10th Grade Essay" in an essay contest at both the city and state levels. - Having a poem published by the Live Poets Society of New Jersey in their Summer 2025 collection after being selected as a topical winner in their national contest. - Starting and serving as the president of my school's newspaper club. - Earning a 5 on the AP Literature Exam. Additionally, I have a 5.1 weighted (3.9 Unweighted) GPA and am in the top 3% of my class.

Ground-Up Tutoring: Students who struggle with the entirety of the essay writing process are first taught the basics of essay writing, then learn how to combine these skills to form their finished product. This form of tutoring is designed to walk students through the writing process step-by-step, from breaking down their prompt to polishing their conclusion. These lessons are perfect for students who... - Struggle with understanding texts and prompts. - Average grades lower than an 80 on essays in school. - Require additional teaching on the steps of writing an essay, start to finish. Editing and Review Services: Students who struggle more with style, grammar, and syntax can benefit from my editing and review services. Prior to meetings I will proofread and offer editing suggestions on the student's essay. Then, during a follow-up meeting I will explain the corrections and how to avoid making similar mistakes going forward. These services are perfect for students who... - Are confident in the context of their writing as well as their understanding of the writing process. - Receive most point deductions for grammar and syntax related errors. - Are only interested in reviewing their own previously-written essays.
