About James
I enjoy helping students achieve their musical ambitions.
I completed the Certificate of the Piano Teachers' Course EPTA UK, Cert PTC in 2015. This course instils a teaching method that is supportive and builds the confidence of the student. I hope to be able to use this method to help each student grow musically.
Also, I have an ongoing interest in music theory. I am happy to help students with music theory exams from beginners to grade 8. I hope to be able to explain the concepts of music theory so that students can use theory to help them in their playing and interpretation of pieces.
I live in Highbury, North London and I'm happy to travel to teach in students' homes in the Islington & City areas and further afield where practicable.

Experienced teacher of piano and music theory, based in Highbury, N5, London.
Following the spirit of the Piano Teachers' Course and EPTA UK, my aim is to bring a holistic musical approach to learning the piano. Lessons will enable simultaneous learning by students of a sound piano technique, musical language, aural awareness, improvisation and composition. Most importantly, lessons should be fun and tailored to the individual student's own ambitions.
Beginners to grade 8 and all ages welcome.
Willing to travel to students' homes in the Highbury and Islington area.
