About Adam
Hi, I'm Adam, a native English speaker from the Southwest of England. I'm a friendly, energetic and approachable English teacher with a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing, a TEFL certificate, and additional training in teaching exam preparation.
I love teaching because I enjoy helping people make real progress while turning what can sometimes feel like a boring or intimidating experience into something enjoyable. I’m naturally quite energetic and expressive, but I also aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and trying new things.
I have a particular interest in helping students become more confident in using English. Whether you want to improve your conversation skills, expand your vocabulary, work on your pronunciation, prepare for an exam, or simply feel more comfortable communicating in English, I’ll tailor lessons around your goals and interests.
Outside teaching, I enjoy film and TV, writing, gardening, cooking and games. I’m always happy to bring a little personality, creativity and humour into my lessons, and I enjoy getting to know the people I teach.
I look forward to helping you become a more confident and capable English speaker!

My teaching style is structured but relaxed, energetic and focused on getting students actively involved. I was trained to use the PPP approach — Presentation, Practice and Production — but I believe the most effective lesson is ultimately one that is adapted to the individual student.
Conversation is an important part of my teaching because I want students to actually use English rather than simply learn about it. I aim to create plenty of opportunities for students to speak, experiment with new vocabulary and put grammar into practice in realistic situations. I also use activities, questions and discussion to keep lessons active and engaging.
One of my biggest strengths as a teacher is building confidence. Learning a language can be frustrating, and many students worry about making mistakes. I try to create an environment where mistakes are treated as a normal and useful part of learning. I will correct students when appropriate, but I also want them to feel comfortable taking risks and expressing themselves.
I particularly enjoy helping students improve their pronunciation, expand their vocabulary and become more natural and confident communicators. For students preparing for exams, I can also provide more structured lessons focused on their specific exam requirements and goals.
Every student is different, so I don't believe in using exactly the same lesson for everyone. I’ll take your level, goals, interests and learning preferences into account and adjust my approach accordingly.
If you find traditional English lessons boring or difficult to stay focused in, my lessons may be a good fit. I bring a lot of energy and personality to my teaching and enjoy using fun, practical activities to make learning feel less like a chore and more like something you actively want to participate in.

Adam is a very calm and patient person. He always takes the time to explain things and make sure I understand. As a Spanish speaker, I think it is very easy to understand what he wants to say because he explains things in a simple way.
I can see that he really wants his students to learn. He does not make you feel bad if you don't know something, and he doesn't rush you to learn everything quickly. He gives you the time you need and is always willing to explain something again. I feel comfortable asking questions with him, and I think this makes learning English easier for me.Adam es un excelente maestro, me ha ayudado mucho con mi pronunciación y a ampliar mi vocabulario de jerga popular. Sus clases son dinámicas y él es muy paciente. 10/10
